Dive into LEGO 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar in designer video

The designer video for the newly-revealed LEGO 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar has landed online, giving us a closer look at the first buildable sneaker.

Designer Florian Müller (who’s appropriately decked out in Adidas gear) introduces us to the novel concept behind the latest 18+ set, which packages a brick-built Superstar sneaker in an authentic shoebox, complete with tissue paper. (You can take a closer look at that unique box here.)

As well as discussing the set’s new elements – including that distinctive shoelace – and the building techniques it involves, Florian reveals how the LEGO Group worked closely with Adidas to bring the shoe to life in bricks.

“We actually had the opportunity to get in contact with the Adidas Originals design team in the US,” Florian explains. “It was super good to get the insights and the perspectives they have when they’re designing the shoe, and [find out] what are the key points and key aspects to look out for when recreating this iconic design.”

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
