Five things that would complete the rumoured LEGO Pirates 10320 Eldorado Fortress remake

With the rumoured LEGO Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress potentially on the way, here’s a look at five features that were missed from the original fortress that could really complete the remake.

The original 6276 Eldorado Fortress from 1989 was highly coveted by kids across the globe, and with the remake (as reported by 1414falconfan on Instagram) being an 18+ set it’s clear that we’re not just getting a duplicate of what we had before.

As far as nostalgia goes, a lot of us may find it hard to accept any kind of changes to a beloved set from the past. But considering how far LEGO has come in the last three decades or so, it’s fair to assume that there’s going to be improvements to the older model rather than total redesigns.

Let’s take a look at five things that we think would give 10320 Eldorado Fortress the potential to serve not just as a remake, but as a completion to the original 6276 Eldorado Fortress.

5 – A mini ship

While the original set did come with two small basic dinghies, one in brown and one in red, no pirate set can truly be considered complete without a ship. As we can see with the currently available 3-in-1 31109 Pirate Ship set from 2020, there’s definitely a lot of room for versatility in the design.

And with that particular set being a 9+, we can see that even a mini pirate ship for the minifigures at the 10320 Eldorado Fortress remake could pack in plenty of detail for a much needed stylish getaway.

4 – Bluecoats and redcoats

While the lore between the bluecoats (the Imperial Soldiers) and their later counterparts of the redcoats (being the Imperial Guards) is somewhat more complex than it first appears, we can still agree that having both factions in the 10320 Eldorado Fortress remake would be smart.

The original 6276 Eldorado Fortress came with an incredible eight minifigures, six of them being bluecoats, and bringing together both of the historical enemies of the LEGO pirates would certainly help cement the remake as an iconic set. And if that wasn’t enough, we even have the new Skeleton Pirate available, which would be a fun addition to help even out the fight.

3 – An impression of the raised baseplate

The raised baseplate of the original model, a staple of 90s LEGO sets, is no longer a part of the LEGO Group’s catalogue, so the new set would have to include an impression of the raised baseplate.

With the original Eldorado Fortress, there was very little room for the minifigures to walk around the fortress, which wasn’t necessarily a problem unless you were hoping to build more onto the set. Without the somewhat restrictive baseplate, fans will be able to expand on the fortress, opening possibilities for building that simply weren’t there before.

2 – More accessories and details

With a complex playset, and particularly within the Pirates theme, it seems that another good addition to really complete the new remake would be more smaller accessories. The idea of pirates brings to mind various images from across the media, such as cutlasses, tricorn pirate hats, medallions, and of course plenty of treasure chests.

On a more practical level a fortress could easily include food supplies, shields, or even just a bed to rest on after the battle is done. Looking at the level of detail in 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, the potential for more worldbuilding is immense, and we’re hoping to see some of that with 10320 Eldorado Fortress.

1 – A working cannon

To really complete what the old set was missing, there’s just one thing that would top it all off – a working cannon. We’ve seen firing cannons before in the LEGO Pirates theme, from 6239 Cannon Battle in 2009 to 70411 Treasure Island in 2015.

Adding those firing cannons to a fortress that has ample supplies, a whole host of Imperial enemies, plenty of room for the battle to take place, and a mini ship to get away on? That would undoubtedly make the whole set complete. And even if none of our predictions are added in the final set, we’re definitely eager to see what the LEGO Group come up with.
