The cast of Friends will come together for a reunion special when HBO Max launches in May.
Following the hit LEGO reunion, LEGO Ideas Friends 21319 Central Perk, the cast of Friends will be coming together not as minifigures but as actual people as part of a special for HBO Max, looking back at the series. The entire Friends back catalogue will also be available on the streaming service when it launches in May.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will reunite along with series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman. The cast negotiated between $2.5 million and $3 million each for the special.
In keeping with where the series was filmed, the special will be shot on Stage 24 of the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank.
“Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max. “I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends — and audiences — gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”
