Here’s how to get a free replacement roof for LEGO Batman 76139 1989 Batmobile

If you haven’t yet requested your replacement roof for LEGO DC 76139 1989 Batmobile, here’s a step-by-step guide to getting your hands on the new tiles – completely free of charge.

If you buy a copy of 76139 1989 Batmobile today, you’ll receive instructions (and parts) for a slightly different roof assembly to the version of the model that launched in November 2019. While the original roof used a matte black 6×6 tile, it’s now been replaced with three glossy 2×6 tiles.

The difference in texture spurred the change, allowing the roof to better match the iconic vehicle’s otherwise shiny surfaces. But if you already own the older version of the Batmobile, don’t fret: you can still get your hands on the new parts, and it won’t cost you a penny.

To order the replacement tiles, all you need to do is head to LEGO.com’s Bricks & Pieces platform and choose the ‘missing pieces’ option. Enter your country of residence, type in the set number (76139), then search for the 2×6 tile’s element number (6318582) or design number (69729). Click ‘add to bag’, adjust the quantity to three, and enter your shipping details. Finally, sit back and wait for your replacement roof to arrive.

It really couldn’t be easier, which is just another reason why the LEGO Group’s customer service department is basically second to none.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
