How to order every LEGO Ideas Test Lab set: a step-by-step guide

The first LEGO Ideas Test Lab sets are now available on Pick a Brick, so here’s a complete guide to ordering the pieces you need to put them together.

Getting your hands on the LEGO Ideas Test Lab sets – all designed by experienced LEGO Ideas users – is not what you’d call straightforward. The good news is that we’ve gone through the process for you and created an extensive step-by-step walkthrough.

With seven builds in total available now and two more arriving later this year, this is how you order every LEGO Ideas Test Lab set that is currently available.

1 – Go to the Pick and Build hub on LEGO.com

Head to the official online store first, which you can do by clicking here. Once there, open the menu on the left where you would usually access themes and new sets, go to ‘Pick and Build’, and then PICK AND BUILD again, this time in all caps.

2 – Click through to the LEGO Ideas Test Lab page

From the central Pick and Build hub, you’ll have options for making custom minifigures, LEGO Bricktales models and – as circled – LEGO Ideas Test Lab builds, named Pick a Brick Builds. Click ‘learn more’ and you’ll be one step closer to building the fan-designed sets.

3 – Select your sets

You’ll find yourself on a long webpage with plenty of options. It might seem intimidating but it’s split into seven sections after the initial introduction. There’s one for each of the currently-available builds: Modular Racers, Market Magic, Billboard Fun, 4-Season Greenhouse, Garden Dreams, Cyber Explorers and Brick-quarium.

On each section, there will be two clickable buttons. One of these will take you to the online instructions, available only via these links as far as we can see. The other will take you to a page where you can add the bricks needed to build them to your basket.

4 – Add bricks to basket

Another long page is next, but all you need to do is click the blue button that reads ‘Pick all pieces’ for your set, and add them to your bag via the orange button at the bottom of the page.

Repeat steps four and five for each additional LEGO Ideas Test Lab model you want to purchase. Note that some bricks may be out of stock in select regions, preventing all orders of that set for the time being.

5 – Don’t forget the instructions

Set nameFan designerPricesPiecesInstructions
Billboard Fun MiniBricks74279 £23.62 / $26.70 / €27.72199 Click here
Cyber Explorers Beto_Builds £13.33 / $15.35 / €15.87200 Click here
4-Season Greenhouse ThatOneGuy_Steve £26.13 / $30.44 / €31.67200 Click here
Market Magic Boom Brickz £23.67 / $27.29 / €27.80178 Click here
Modular Racers nasa105 £23.17 / $26.91 / €28.06198 Click here
Garden Dreams Mind The Brick £22.61 / $25.79 / €26.66196 Click here
Brick-quarium JBBrickFanatic £12.71 / $14.46 / €15.23185 Click here

Don’t forget to either save the link or download the instructions as a PDF for later use. We’ve gathered these into the table above for easier access too.

6 – Check your basket

Check that everything you want to purchase is in your basket. Keep in mind that Pick a Brick orders can take longer to arrive and that there’s free delivery when spending over £50 / $35 / €55.

7 – Wait for them to arrive

Once you’ve paid and finished the order, you just need to wait for your sets to arrive. Our two builds came in one big bag with both models’ bricks mixed up. However, everything was there and we just needed to make some space and time to sort out the pieces before building.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
