Jedi Master Kelleran Beq is already a custom LEGO Star Wars minifigure

A custom LEGO Star Wars minifigure of The Mandalorian’s Jedi Master Kelleran Beq has already been created by one enterprising fan designer.

There were plenty of surprises in store in this week’s episode of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, not least of which was the revelation of exactly who it was that rescued Grogu during the events of Order 66. The identity of the character was a shock to many fans and a little nerve-wracking for the actor who played him. (Spoilers ahead)

Known primarily for his portrayal of Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy, Ahmed Best made his debut as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in the Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge YouTube series, but this week’s episode of The Mandalorian showed the character in full-on combat mode for the first time.

Talking to the official Star Wars website, Best revealed he was a little anxious when asked to step back into the role for his appearance in ‘The Foundling.’  “Honestly, I had to think about it. I’ve been in the Star Wars world for such a long time and my story is such a rollercoaster ride of emotions,” said Best. “(However,) as soon as I put the robes on for my first costume test, and I walked on to get approval from Jon (Favreau) and Dave (Filoni), and they handed me a lightsaber, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m in this’, and boom, Kelleran Beq came alive.”

In the episode, Jedi Master Kelleran Beq makes short work of a number of clone troopers, before fleeing on a speeder to a waiting Naboo ship. It’s not yet known if the character will appear in future instalments of The Mandalorian, but we suspect we haven’t seen the last of Best in the role.

One LEGO fan designer has been so impressed with the arrival of Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in the Disney+ show, that he’s created his own custom version of the character. Over on the Instagram account of mando_lego_customs you can take a look at a render of a proposed Kelleran Beq minifigure (and many others), with a variant of the Grogu figure hovering in the background. As in ‘The Foundling,’ the Jedi Master can be seen wielding two lightsabers and wearing his own unique Jedi robes.

Whilst there’s been no word from the LEGO Group regarding Kelleran Beq potentially appearing as a minifigure in any future LEGO Star Wars sets, the fan-made render nevertheless gives us hope that we might eventually see one someday.

Four new LEGO Star Wars sets were recently revealed to be launching in 2023, with 75346 Pirate Snub Fighter75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer75361 Spider Tank and 75363 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter Microfighter all now available to pre-order from LEGO.com.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently streaming on Disney+ for all subscribers, with new episodes dropping on consecutive Wednesdays. For more information on the show, be sure to check out our dedicated Star Wars sister site, Jedinet.
