Latest LEGO Ideas project to reach 10K makes a splash

Marking the second LEGO Ideas project to reach 10,000 supporters in the same day, the latest 10K club member makes quite the splash.

The one and only LEGO Ideas project from college student builder 2 by 4 has made it past the 10,000 supporter mark, meaning that Humpback Whale Breach will now go forward for consideration to become a real LEGO Ideas set. It depicts, as the name would suggest, a humpback whale breaching through the water, set on a black display that holds in the brick-built dark blue water.

Extra detail is added around the base of the whale, to recreate the waves that a real whale would make when throwing itself out of the water. Humpbacks tend to do this to convey a variety of messages to other members of their pod, such as excitement, warning of a threat, or to assert dominance.

Humpback Whale Breach marks the seventh LEGO Ideas project to make it through to the second 2024 review. Here’s a reminder of all the sets that will currently be competing to make it into the LEGO Ideas theme officially.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
