WATCH: LEGO Winter Village 10308 Holiday Main Street feels… confused

The LEGO Group’s latest Winter Village set carries the same 18+ tag as other recent Christmas builds, but it doesn’t quite match the design of its buildings.

As with pretty much all LEGO ICONS (formerly LEGO Creator Expert) sets, the Winter Village Collection is now comprised of models targeted first and foremost at adults. Obvious signs include the homogenous black packaging and the ‘18+’ tag on the box, which both allow the newly-announced 10308 Holiday Main Street to slot right in alongside 10303 Loop Coaster, 10306 Atari 2600 et al.

Beyond its marketing materials, though, things get a little more muddled – as we’ve explored in our latest YouTube video. Above all, 10308 Holiday Main Street is a set that feels confused in what it’s trying to do, with a clear difference between what’s on the box and what’s in the box. You can find out why by hitting play on the video below.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
