LEGO Avatar sets rumoured for April 2022

At least two LEGO sets based on James Cameron’s Avatar franchise are now rumoured to be landing on shelves as soon as April.

Rumours of a LEGO Avatar theme first emerged back in January, and Instagram user exabrickslegogo_ now claims that product numbers 77012 and 77015 will be the first inspired by the world of Pandora. An upcoming theme currently codenamed Coconut was initially linked to Avatar, but its set numbers don’t match these, suggesting they’re actually two different themes.

The same user reports that their release date could be as soon as April, and given we already know of a handful of sets coming our way that month – including 76208 The Goat Boat and 76956 T. rex Breakout – an official reveal could be on the cards very soon. If this rumour is true, that is: for now, it’s one to again take with a pinch of salt until confirmed otherwise.

That release date also feels a little suspect given the next instalment in the Avatar franchise doesn’t arrive in cinemas until December, although Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora video game could well launch before then. The original rumour did state that the sets would be based specifically on James Cameron’s theatrical sequel, however.

If these sets are indeed based on Avatar, the product numbers in between – 77013 and 77014 – may also follow suit, building out a bigger wave than just the two initially-rumoured sets, but that’s only speculation at this point. Keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for more as we get it.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
