How much will LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight cost? WB Games won’t say
WB Games is ‘dancing around’ the cost of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – leading to speculation that it will match Nintendo’s new price tag of $80 for games.
Nestled in the official FAQ for the upcoming TT Games title is the simple and easy-to-answer question: “How much will LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight cost?” WB Games has made the decision to add the question entirely at its own discretion… then failed to provide an actual answer. Instead, it simply states that the game is ‘not available for pre-order yet’, but can be wishlisted across its various platforms.
That answer (or lack thereof) has sparked concern on social media that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight could aim for an $80 price tag, matching the benchmark set by Nintendo for the digital versions of its Switch 2 titles including Mario Kart World. Microsoft has also announced price rises for games from $70 to $80, while – to cite one example – Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford recently claimed ‘real fans’ would pay $80 for Borderlands 4.

This environment of steadily increasing video game prices, which is likely to worsen in the US specifically as a result of tariffs (Sony just yesterday announced US price increases for its PlayStation 5 consoles), is fostering apprehension around new games that deliberately avoid talking about the price tag. So it goes for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
As one Blue Sky user says, ‘dancing around a question you ask yourself is crazy’. KBABZ suggests WB Games’ non-answer means the Batman game will cost $80, a concern echoed by a couple of other users too.
That said, the publisher’s lack of commitment to a specific price may mean that it’s just reading the room for now. Microsoft has already back-pedalled on its promised increases with The Outer Worlds 2, reducing its launch price from $80 to $70, while Borderlands 4 will also debut at $70 in the US following player backlash to Pitchford’s comments.
But while the gaming community is not what you’d call widely receptive to $80 titles at the moment, it hasn’t stopped Nintendo from committing to that price tag. And given LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight isn’t arriving until 2026, there’s still a little time for $80 games to become more commonplace across other platforms – so it could be that WB Games is simply waiting to follow the lead of everyone else.

For now, you can indeed wishlist LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and the Epic Games store, so you’ll be among the first to know just how much the game will eventually cost. There’s no concrete release date beyond 2026 at this point.

Honestly they should price it at £30 like how games used to be priced at, especially Lego ones. I have the whole DC Lego collection and it wasn’t that expensive. Ik they are amazing games but it’s not like it’s a AAA game. Ik they’re good games but god damn the prices are ludicrous
agreed, especially since they’re aimed at children, it’s really exploitative imo
