LEGO City’s summer 2024 sets are feeling nostalgic

The full slate of the LEGO City summer 2024 sets has been revealed and the theme is getting especially nostalgic starting next month.

Of the many LEGO City summer 2024 sets launching starting next month and continuing through August, one stands out for its extensive array of LEGO Easter eggs. There are more references beyond those in 60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park though.

60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park is one of the most interesting releases in the summer 2024 LEGO City range and a noticeable reference is the inclusion of No Face – the antagonist of LEGO City: No Limits in minifigure form.

Another noticeable Easter egg is a direct recreation of 7700 Stealth Hunter from Exo-Force as a centrepiece of the set. There’s space for one minifigure inside as well as stickers matching the original LEGO set.

The classic theme Easter eggs don’t stop there though as the reverse of the model features an arcade interior with a pair of machines referencing Ultra Agent’s 70162 Infearno Interception and Alien Conquest’s 7052 UFO Abduction. Ultra Agents is even referenced in another summer 2024 set.

Several screens across the interior of 60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park include a homage to BIONICLE via a fighting game that was previously featured in LEGO Friends. Now, LEGO City’s minifigures are playing the game with 8562 Gahlok and 8534 Tahu as featured characters.

Another screen with a different game also highlights both 31111 Cyber Drone and the Clockwork Robot from 8827 Series 6.

It’s safe to say that 60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park is the most nostalgic LEGO City summer 2024 set and possibly features the most references of any summer 2024 model.

That’s not all from LEGO City though as we’ve spotted a homage to the classic crocodile piece in 60425 Jungle Explorer Water Plane and many miniature models to add to your collection in 60440 Yellow Delivery Truck.

There are many new LEGO City models launching in just a couple of weeks and more coming later this summer. Here’s everything you can expect from the long-running theme for summer 2024, including the return of Johnny Thunder.
