LEGO Delivery Truck is LEGO fan kryptonite

LEGO fans love a meta set, the LEGO Group knows it – and the recently revealed 60440 Yellow Delivery Truck is an example of why they’re just so fun.

On the face of it, the name 60440 Yellow Delivery Truck could be describing a fairly bland set that would undoubtedly go down well with LEGO City fans but perhaps not with the wider LEGO community. However, as soon as we all got to see the first pictures of the set, it became clear that it certainly had that broader appeal.

That’s because it’s one of those few LEGO sets that takes the world of LEGO that we know and translates it into bricks. We’ve seen this already in the past with the various LEGOLAND sets, as well as 40574 LEGO Brand Store.

As more and more of these meta sets hit shelves, it gradually becomes possible to develop LEGO stores and supply chains within your LEGO worlds. Your minifigures can have their own LEGO deliveries and sets. As a community that loves tiny versions of things, it’s not hard to see why we especially love even tinier versions of those tiny things.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
