It’s a beast of a build

With a total combined height of 73cm tall and 4,803 pieces, the colossal LEGO Harry Potter builds feature the bank sitting on a 32×32 baseplate, with three subterranean vaults located below. The two sections can be separated and displayed on their own or side-by-side, with the bank itself also being fully-compatible with the previously-released 75978 Diagon Alley.

The lower portion of 76417 Gringotts Wizard Bank Collectors’ Edition boasts a spiralling rollercoaster track, complete with minecart and vaults which can be stopped at and entered. This part of the set is anchored around a soaring central column that’s sturdy enough to support the 36cm tall bank perched precariously above, which is something of a magical miracle in and of itself.

Diverse display options

Thanks to some clever forward-planning, 76417 Gringotts Wizard Bank Collectors’ Edition can be displayed with 75978 Diagon Alley in more ways than one. There are in fact multiple configurations for combining the two builds, giving fans various options for showing off the LEGO Harry Potter sets.

For starters, it’s possible to place just the bank section in-between the various 75978 Diagon Alley buildings, with the full range of models spread horizontally. However, 76417 Gringotts Wizard Bank Collectors’ Edition is actually twice as deep as the other LEGO Harry Potter set, meaning some buildings will be at the back of your shelf and some at the front.

If that doesn’t work for you, then you can always hook two of Diagon Alley’s buildings at a right angle to the other two, creating an L-shaped street. Failing that, the LEGO Group itself has suggested a possible display configuration for 76417 Gringotts Wizard Bank Collectors’ Edition on its box, with Diagon Alley’s buildings facing one another as per the films, but you’ll definitely need plenty of space for that option.

Packed with details

Thanks to its high piece count, 76417 Gringotts Wizard Bank Collectors’ Edition’s designers have been able to pack plenty of detail into the magical model, as well as numerous fan-pleasing moments. Look closely and you’ll spot an opulent foyer with a safe in the wall containing Hagrid’s secret package, the Thief’s Downfall waterfall, a hidden surprise inside Bellatrix’s vault, a buildable model of the Magical Menagerie shop next door, a full-size gold Galleon coin and much more.

In addition, a mighty brick-built Ukrainian Ironbelly Dragon is located on the roof of the bank, with the creature boasting new head, mouth and wing elements. The poseable beast can also be removed and displayed on its own, if you so wish.

Multiple magical minifigures

For a LEGO Harry Potter set of this size, you’d expect the massive model to include plenty of minifigures and 76417 Gringotts Wizard Bank Collectors’ Edition doesn’t disappoint. The build comes with 13 characters including two Harrys, Hagrid, Griphook, Dragomir Despard/Ron Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange/Hermione Granger, Bogrod, Ricbert, two goblin bankers, two guards and a Death Eater.

Together the minifigures span two different movies: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which means you’ll be getting Ron and Hermione as Dragomir Despard and Bellatrix Lestrange, with reversible faces to reveal their true identities.

However, that remains pure speculation at this stage, but we’ll update you if and when we know more.
