LEGO Harry Potter make-and-take event coming to LEGO Stores
A magical make-and-take event is coming to LEGO Stores next month, giving budding wizards and witches the chance to build and take home their own LEGO Harry Potter wand.
Presumably to celebrate the launch of the new LEGO Harry Potter 18+ set 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, the LEGO Group is giving kids and adults alike the chance to put together a free brick-built wand in September. The make-and-take event is currently slated to take place in the UK and Europe, but no dates or times are listed for stores in the US.
You’ll be able to pick up your wand during specific hours across September 1, 2 and 3, marking the start of the new school year in the Wizarding World. Check out the table below for a full breakdown of event times across LEGO Stores in the UK and Europe.
LEGO Store location | Date | Time |
---|---|---|
September 1 | 12pm to 2pm | |
September 2 | 10am to 12pm | |
September 3 | 12pm to 2pm | |
September 1 | 1pm to 3pm | |
September 2 | 1pm to 3pm |
The usual small print applies to this make-and-take event: models cannot be purchased, are available on a first-come, first-served basis during the event times, and are limited to one per person. The wand itself looks like a basic stack of 2×2 round bricks, 4×4 cones and 4×4 round bricks, presumably with an axle or two running through it, so shouldn’t be too difficult to recreate at home if you can’t make the event.
The most recent make-and-take event was hooked to the launch of LEGO DREAMZzz, with a mini model of 71456 Mrs. Castillo’s Turtle Van given away at the beginning of August.
76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition launches for VIP members on September 1 – and for everyone else on September 4 – and will retail for £369.99 / $429.99 / €429.99.

Author Profile
- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
