The LEGO Group is making an Anime and needs your help

Plans have been revealed for a new animated LEGO video with the World Builder Team looking for Anime inspiration through your concept art.

LEGO World Builder has revealed the theme of their latest design project, with the platform’s team not looking to expand the portfolio of images for architects to use, but instead searching for concept art for a new LEGO Anime set with minor details potentially revealed.

The description on the dedicated webpage states that the brief is asking you to provide artwork of a LEGO scene in the city streets of Tokyo reimagined through a unique and exciting anime style.

Later on the page, the intent behind this is revealed to be the help with the development of new ways of exploring animation by Tongal and the LEGO Group, including the production of a long-form animated video that will use one of the anime art styles proposed as part of the brief, or at least something inspired by them.

A hard requirement for the design project is that any submitted artwork must depict original LEGO minifigures in Tokyo only, and cannot involve any other licenses even including those that LEGO own such as NINJAGO or Monkie Kid, which has also been getting an anime-adjacent series that is now streaming on Amazon.

You’ve got until November 11 to submit with five finalists being chosen to receive an equal share of the $2,500 project fund each for their image contribution. LEGO World Builder has also been responsible for the partial creation of LEGO Star Wars shorts recently.
