Black Friday and Cyber Monday are nearly here, but before then, we’ve got LEGO VIP Weekend to look forward to. A full weekend of sales and deals exclusively for LEGO VIP members, LEGO VIP Weekend is a chance to take advantage of the year’s best shopping deals a week in advance of Black Friday. Read on to find out when we expect LEGO VIP Weekend to take place in 2021, the offers we might see, and how exactly the VIP program works.
What is LEGO VIP Weekend?
LEGO VIP Weekend offered the chance to take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals a full week early in 2019 and 2020, and we’re expecting the same to happen again in 2021. The separate shopping event, which in 2019 and 2020 took place across the weekend prior to Black Friday, is open exclusively for LEGO VIP members – so you’ll need to sign up to the LEGO Group’s loyalty program if you want to bag any of the deals.
When is LEGO VIP Weekend 2021?
For the past two years, LEGO VIP Weekend has fallen in the week before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, Black Friday is November 26, so LEGO VIP Weekend 2021 should fall on November 20-21. While the LEGO Group has mostly managed to meet demand for its sets throughout 2021, there’s a chance that any sets intended for Black Friday deals could sell out during LEGO VIP Weekend.
LEGO VIP Weekend 2021 deals
In 2019 and 2020, the LEGO Group gave away a buildable 2×4 brick with qualifying purchases across the LEGO VIP Weekend shopping event. We’ve had red and teal bricks so far, and 2021 could see the launch of a third brick in the series, in colours such as yellow or purple. The required spend for the first two bricks was £200 / $200 / €200, so it’s safe to expect similar in 2021.
Last year also gave shoppers the chance to grab Black Friday’s exclusive gift-with-purchase, 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute, a full week ahead of its wide launch for the Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend. Whatever the LEGO Group has up its sleeve to act as an incentive to shop this year, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to grab it early during LEGO VIP Weekend.
LEGO VIP Weekend double VIP points
LEGO VIP Weekend is also a great time to increase your stash of VIP points, as the LEGO Group typically offers double VIP points across the entire event. That translates to an effective 10% discount on all sets, which is basically the best deal you’ll find on some of its biggest direct-to-consumer sets, including 76178 Daily Bugle and 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens.
What is the LEGO VIP program?
The LEGO VIP program is the LEGO Group’s loyalty scheme, offering rewards for shopping directly at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores. You’ll earn points across all purchases that can be spent on future orders and exclusive rewards, receive early access to brand new sets, and be able to participate in shopping events like LEGO VIP Weekend.
Is LEGO VIP free to join?
Absolutely: there are no fees to sign up to the LEGO VIP program, and you won’t need to pay anything to stay a member, either. All the benefits accorded by the program are completely free of charge (beyond the sets you’ll buy to earn them), so there’s basically no reason not to sign up.
How do you earn LEGO VIP points?
You’ll earn LEGO VIP points simply by making purchases at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores (once you’re signed up to the program). In the UK, you’ll earn 800 points for every £100 spent. You can then redeem those 800 points (or multiples thereof) for a £5 rewards voucher to spend on future purchases, which means you’re basically earning 5% back as standard on purchases. The LEGO Group also runs double points events throughout the year, equal to 10% cashback.
How much are LEGO VIP points worth?
If you’re redeeming your points for rewards vouchers to spend on future sets, which range in value from £5 to £100, they’re worth the equivalent of 0.625p each. Some rewards in the LEGO VIP Rewards Centre will make your points worth more money based on the value of the item you’re redeeming them for.
How do I get a LEGO VIP discount code?
If you’ve earned enough LEGO VIP points to redeem them for a rewards voucher, you can do so by logging into your VIP account at LEGO.com. Head to the VIP Rewards Centre, hit the ‘Rewards’ tab, and redeem your points for the voucher value of your choice, to be used either online or in-store. (Note that you must choose where you’d like to spend your voucher at this point – a LEGO.com voucher can’t be used in a LEGO Store, and vice-versa.)
Prices start at 800 LEGO VIP points for a £5 voucher, and go all the way up to 16,000 LEGO VIP points for a £100 voucher. You’ll then get a discount code to use on your next order at LEGO.com or in a LEGO Store, depending on which type of voucher you’ve chosen.
Make sure to check this page regularly ahead of LEGO VIP Weekend 2021, as we’ll be updating it with all of this year’s deals as they’re announced.
