LEGO makes a surprising cameo at 2024 movie event

A movie gear expo held in Burbank this weekend features a surprising cameo by a LEGO item that could relate to an upcoming project.

Custom film clapboard commission company EnglishStix is showcasing some of their custom items at the Cine Gear Expo 2024 in California this weekend and has shared a picture of their display on Instagram.

While many may immediately focus on the slates for Captain America: Brave New World and Superman, another interesting clapper positioned to the right of them on the top row a LEGO film clapboard is featured – consisting of just the top portion of the slate.

A video from So I Do Not Forget on YouTube showcases a better look at the full display, cutting off just before the LEGO slate is showcased fully.

While the display features many slates for recent and upcoming movies, the presence of a LEGO film slate among those for Superman, Captain America: Brave New World and more does not mean that this is a slate commissioned for an unannounced LEGO movie.

Instead, it’s entirely possible that this was commissioned for one of the previous LEGO movies or even the upcoming Piece by Piece, which is coming later this year. For now, it might be wise to assume that it was simply commissioned for an existing project. Still, EnglishStix is open to showcasing items commissioned for upcoming movies.

Either way, it wasn’t where we expected the LEGO Group to cameo this weekend since most of their attention is on today’s Canadian Grand Prix.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
