LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2023 GWP sells out worldwide

LEGO Star Wars 40591 Death Star II has now sold out in the US too, leaving just two of this year’s May the 4th gifts-with-purchase in stock online.

The headline GWP of this year’s Star Wars Day promotions disappeared in the UK and Europe yesterday, and has now followed suit across the pond. It’s also sold out in Australia and New Zealand at LEGO.com, meaning stock has effectively run dry worldwide. Your only hope of bagging 40591 Death Star II now is through a secondary marketplace or in LEGO Stores, but YMMV: every store we’ve checked has long sold out.

It’s perhaps no surprise given LEGO Star Wars sets have clearly been selling well during this year’s May the 4th event – maybe even better than the LEGO Group expected – as multiple models have moved to back order (or are temporarily out of stock altogether). That includes new releases like 75355 X-wing Starfighter and 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer, alongside veteran products such as 75313 AT-AT and 75292 The Razor Crest.

If you’re still hoping to make a LEGO Star Wars purchase before the May the 4th event ends, the good news is that there are still plenty of incentives left at LEGO.com. Spend over £35 / $40 / €40, and you’ll bag 30654 X-wing Starfighter. Push that order up to £80 / $85 / €85 (while logged into your VIP account), and you’ll also score 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible.

Double VIP points are still available on all LEGO Star Wars sets, meanwhile – equivalent to 10% cashback – and you can save up to 20% on specific products through VIP discount vouchers in the VIP Rewards Centre. Head over to our May the 4th page to check out a full rundown of all the offers and discounts, or click straight through to LEGO.com to start shopping.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
