A rumoured LEGO Despicable Me 4 set might have the perfect piece for one of the franchise's most recognisable characters, thanks to a Disney set.
Rumour has it that LEGO Despicable Me could be around the corner but there's one character that may not be as simple to recreate as a minifigure unless the LEGO Group is willing to reuse an odd element more widely than ever before.
A wave of LEGO sets based on Despicable Me 4 is currently rumoured for later this year and while nothing has been confirmed officially, the reported 75583 Gru’s House would need a minifigure of the titular character.
Gru is depicted as a child in Minions: The Rise of Gru and appears in two of the films' LEGO sets – 40511 Kung Fu Training and 75549 Unstoppable Bike Chase. This minifigure, as with many, has no nose despite it being a notable part of his design.
Gru's pointed nose is an iconic part of his design and it's even more pronounced as an adult than it is as a child. While a minifigure of the character without a nose would likely still be recognisable, including it would take a minifigure of him to the next level. Thankfully,
Pinnochio's nose isn't just a part of his character design but a part of his story and excluding it from his minifigure wouldn't have made much sense, as complicated as it was to break away from a decades-old standard.

While 71038 Disney 100 has now retired, provided the mould for this head is still available, it could be the ideal element to most accurately recreate Gru as a minifigure as long as it's not tied up with Disney.
For now, keep in mind that the rumours of LEGO Despicable Me 4 are just that at the time of writing and should be taken with caution. All of the LEGO Minions sets have now retired, but at least one of the theme's specialised elements is still in use.
