LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets rumoured for August 2023

The LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme rumours continue with reports of a selection of BrickHeadz and a later 2023 release window.

Promobricks are reporting that the five rumoured LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets could be landing on shelves in August 2023 but that’s not the only LEGO Sonic sets that they believe are coming.

The source states that they believe a selection of BrickHeadz for the franchise could be on the way too, but clarifies that they aren’t certain of this just yet, advising some caution. It’s also not explained whether these could release alongside the sets, or later on.

The five sets are reported to be minifigure-compatible with a launching device in all of them and a ball to place a minifigure inside, potentially replicating the iconic Spin Dash move.

This would only increase the similarities between LEGO Minecraft and the rumoured LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme with the block-based product range starting with a LEGO Ideas set, becoming a full theme, and expanding with BrickHeadz thanks to 41612 Steve & Creeper.

This rumour remains unconfirmed by the LEGO Group and so it should be taken with a pinch of salt until announced otherwise.

Fan designs for LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog BrickHeadz may give us an idea of what to expect provided the rumour is true with an archived LEGO Ideas project showcasing a collection of characters in the iconic style of the theme, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Dr. Eggman.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
