LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog Badnik: Crabmeat confirmed as GWP

A previously revealed LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set is now confirmed to be arriving in 2025 as a future gift-with-purchase.

Thanks to the official LEGO Builder app, we had our first look this week at an upcoming LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog model. The set numbering for 40781 Badnik: Crabmeat suggested that the build could be destined to arrive as a future GWP and that’s now been confirmed.

A full listing for 40781 Badnik: Crabmeat has appeared on LEGO.com, along with official images and a description of the mechanical crustacean. Coming in at 181 pieces, the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set measures over 11cm tall and sits on its own removable Green Hill Zone-style stand.

40781 Badnik: Crabmeat features moveable arms, legs and eyestalks, plus opening claws. The Badnik also boasts a hidden compartment for capturing the included Tocky animal friend figure.

The LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog model is listed with a price of £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99, suggesting it might be more obtainable than other GWPs. There’s no word so far regarding when or where the 40781 Badnik: Crabmeat promotion will go live, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more information.

Fan reactions to the upcoming LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog have been mostly positive and we’ve even speculated that the specific naming of 40781 Badnik: Crabmeat could potentially hint at similar Dr. Robotnik creations down the line.
