LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has unlimited (selling) power

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga seemingly has unlimited selling power in the UK, as the 2022 title has topped the charts for the second week in a row.

Still spurred on by PS5 bundles including TT Games’ saga-spanning effort, the ultimate LEGO Star Wars game has maintained its grasp on pole position in the UK’s physical sales charts for the week ending August 12, 2023. It stole first place from FIFA 23 last week following a 116% jump in sales, and has now ensured the football game will stay in second position. That’s despite a 32% drop in sales week-on-week for The Skywalker Saga, according to GfK.

The majority of the game’s sales during the past seven days have been on PS5, just as they were last week, as more and more people are checking out everything TT Games’ latest LEGO Star Wars title has to offer. The Skywalker Saga combines all nine mainline Star Wars films, from The Phantom Menace to The Rise of Skywalker, and sprinkles over a generous dose of Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian and Bad Batch characters for good measure.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s return to the sales charts mirrors its performance at launch, when it jumped straight to first place in the UK and stayed there for two consecutive weeks. It then saw a first post-launch boost in summer 2022 during Amazon’s Prime Day sales, but this is the biggest shot in the arm for the game since release yet. Check out the table below for the full top 10 best-selling physical games in the UK last week.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
