Five things we spotted in LEGO Star Wars 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader

Following yesterday’s official reveal, here are five things we spotted in the upcoming 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader.

We now know that a third LEGO Star Wars set will be joining 40547 Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader and 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe on August 1. 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader is a diorama scene that mirrors the events in episode three of the Disney+ series and includes a number of play features plus four unique minifigures.

Although only boasting 408 pieces for £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99, the set does manage to pack in quite a few details that are worth pointing out. Here are five things we’ve already spotted in 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader:

5 – Rotating platforms return

This isn’t the first time that Obi-Wan Kenobi and his former apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, have battled each other in a LEGO set. 75269 Duel on Mustafar also featured two rotating platforms for lightsaber duels, as well as plenty of trans-orange pieces representing fire.

4 – Darth Vader arm printing

The Darth Vader minifigure boasts arm printing, something we’ve only previously seen on the version included with 75296 Darth Vader Meditation Chamber. However, picking up 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader is certainly a much cheaper way of adding the minifigure to your collection.

3 – New Obi-Wan Kenobi minifigure

The first minifigure version of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s character in the Disney+ series was glimpsed following the reveal of 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe. However, 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader includes yet another version, this time with the character’s costume representing his appearance in episode three of the show.

2 – Minifigure firsts

The set also includes the first minifigures of both NED-B and Tala Durith. The yellow mining droid features a power hammer and backpack accessory, while the Imperial officer turned ally, Tala Durith, is armed with a blaster pistol.

1 – No red lenses

We’d previously speculated that the helmet of the Darth Vader minifigure included with the set might feature red lenses. This was based on the artwork of the character featured on the packaging for all three LEGO Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi sets. Unfortunately, this doesn’t appear to be the case and this Darth Vader helmet seems to be the most-recent two-piece version.

75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader, 40547 Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader and 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe can all be pre-ordered now and will launch on August 1.

It’s a playset for kids. You either buy it for your kids or buy for later resale. I feel like adult fans of LEGO understand this but just want to make a stink anyway. I’ll be picking this up. It’s going to be discounted $10-15 ya know.
