LEGO Super Mario boxes are changing later this year 

LEGO Super Mario’s uniform box design is drastically changing later this year with 71423 Dry Bowser Castle Battle. 

Other than the 18+ builds, LEGO Super Mario’s boxes for its sets have all featured a white background, shifting the focus entirely on the model itself. However, after almost three years of the theme, change is coming. 

The listing for 71423 Dry Bowser Castle Battle has been updated with more images of the model than when it was initially revealed. These include a look at the box, which features a fiery background made of bricks and a sea of lava. 

For most other themes, it’s not exactly eye-catching but for LEGO Super Mario, this is a significant change. Considering the size of 71423 Dry Bowser Castle Battle, this could be a one-time design alteration, though previous massive course-system sets have featured white backgrounds. 

We’ll have to see if this is a permanent change for the theme with at least one more LEGO Super Mario set featuring Donkey Kong coming in summer of 2023.
