Next LEGO The Lord of the Rings GWP is small, but accurate

The next LEGO The Lord of the Rings gift-with-purchase might look too small, but it in fact matches the scales of its companion creation.

The LEGO Group has officially revealed 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith and its tie-in gift-with-purchase, recreating one of the most iconic siege weapons in movie history. 40893 The Lord of the Rings: Grond is made up of 307 pieces and will come free with purchases of the 8,000-piece model between June 1 and 7, or while stocks last.

Price: Free with 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith only Pieces: 307 Release date: June 1, 2026

At just 307 pieces, you might think that the gift-with-purchase is far too small to properly recreate the intimidating presence of the on-screen battering ram. That’s certainly true when you look at it next to the two included orc minifigures, which should realistically be about as tall as the wheels

When paired with 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith, though, its scale makes a lot more sense. 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith is designed to microscale on the outside, and minifigure-scale inside. Neither looks perfect when paired with minifigures on their exterior, but they are both roughly the same scale without them.

You can always use the orc minifigures inside the gates themselves, and leave Grond on its own outside the gates to recreate the moment from the movie. You will also want to consider adding a few of element 6335936 from Pick a Brick to act as scaled orc figures surrounding it. 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith even includes two of these statuettes, which should mean one spare.

Official images don’t show precisely how the GWP and the main set look on display together, but rest assured, the microscale models should look correct when their minifigures are displayed somewhere else. This is unlike the previous LEGO The Lord of the Rings gifts, which are all designed at minifigure-scale, even if they aren’t at the right scale compared to their tie-in model.

11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith is launching early on June 1 for LEGO Insiders and June 4 widely for £579.99 / €649.99 / $649.99. The Grond gift-with-purchase is free with purchases of the set between June 1 and 7, or while stocks last.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

That’s adorable. Like a Lord Of The Rings-themed barbecue grill.
