LEGO ties employee bonuses to climate goals
The LEGO Group has tied part of its annual employee bonuses to the wider climate goals of the company in a bid to meet its eco-targets,
Starting from this year, the LEGO Group employee annual bonuses will be in part linked to carbon emissions reduction goals, in a bid to get the entire company behind the wider climate goals. From embarking on the hunt to make more sustainable bricks to an overarching strategy encompassing everything from packaging to emissions, the LEGO Group has been investing resources into making itself a more sustainable company – a must for any corporation of its size in 2024.
This latest move is part of the company’s efforts to reduce emissions by 37% by 2023, with the goal of hitting net carbon zero by 2050.
“To help keep us on track, from 2024, a percentage of our performance management programme for colleague bonuses will be tied to annual emissions as we take steps to reduce environmental impact across all areas of our business,” reads the LinkedIn post announcing the change.
This comes after the LEGO Group introduced a new KPI measuring carbon from its factories, stores, and offices, as well as business travel emissions. The emissions are measured against the number of bricks manufactured with aims of expanding those measurements to include those within the value and supply chain, even when outside of the company’s control.
