LEGO is causing toilet-related drama… again
The LEGO Group has taken realism a step further with 71799 NINJAGO City Markets, giving its many minifigures a place to do their business – and dispose of it.
The newly-revealed LEGO NINJAGO modular building, 71799 NINJAGO City Market, has plenty of impressive features in its 6,163 pieces for all 21 of its minifigures to try out. One that’s catching the eye of many fans of the theme first, however, is an interactive feature that lets you flush away LEGO poop. Yes, you read that right.
Listed as one of the ‘details’ that fills the four-storey market, the flushing toilet can be found at Sushimi’s sushi bar. Judging from the images, it looks like you’ll be able to push a tiny lever to let a brown ‘stud’ drop through the toilet, to be whisked away by the ‘water’ below.
Within minutes of the reveal, people had already begun to notice the unlikely feature, both on Twitter and on a dedicated Reddit post. It builds on past complaints from fans that Modular Buildings had either too few or too many toilets inside them, or that existing toilets wouldn’t work functionally. Now, it seems that the LEGO Group has taken the feedback very much on board.
“Upping their game from prior toilet iterations,” observed one Reddit user, while another added, “This feature made me literally laugh out loud when I saw the video. Like, all Ninjago city sets have play features, but what a feature to choose.”
Another Reddit user noticed that the LEGO Group has also helped to decide one of the longest ongoing discussions in human history: “LEGO confirming the one and only right way of hanging your toilet paper. Finally the debate is over.”
This is far from the first time that toilet-related building techniques have caught fan attention, either. It wasn’t too long ago that a LEGO designer had to weigh in on the Great Toilet Paper or Towel Debate for LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin, or that we got our very first buildable dung.
Even aside from the working toilet, there’s plenty more to love about LEGO 71799 NINJAGO City Markets. Available to buy from June 4 for £319.99 / $369.99 / €369.99, we’ve also broken down just how it compares to 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens for you here.
