Mystery Star Wars film rumoured to be co-written by Damon Lindelof

Rumours suggest that a previously-unannounced Star Wars film may be co-written by Lost and Watchmen creator, Damon Lindelof.

With multiple Star Wars projects currently in various stages of development, Deadline is now reporting that a new movie set in a galaxy far, far away may be being co-written by Damon Lindelof. The story states that Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy could also be joining the previously-unannounced Star Wars film, although there’s been no confirmation from Lucasfilm so far regarding the potential project.

The report reveals that Lindelof, whose TV credits include Lost, The Leftovers and HBO Max’s Watchmen, is currently developing the unnamed Star Wars project, although there are no details regarding who he may be co-writing the film with. As the potential script is probably at an early stage, it’s unlikely the rumoured movie will make it to the big screen any time soon.

Obaid-Chinoy directed several well-received episodes of Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel series on Disney+ and previously won an Oscar for her documentary shorts Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness.

Rian Johnson, the director of The Last Jedi also recently provided fans with an update on his proposed upcoming Star Wars trilogy. Johnson has revealed that he’s still talking to Lucasfilm about the project, although any such undertaking is currently down to the director’s busy schedule.
