New LEGO Books leader will usher in ‘non-traditional formats and technologies’

A new lead publisher at LEGO Books has been appointed, hinting at potential changes in future titles.

Cindy Loh is joining Ameet Publishing from August 1 in the newly-created role of Publisher. Previously at Bloomsbury U.S., she will lead Ameet’s LEGO Books publishing program.

Up until now, Ameet has been LEGO’s strategic partner for global publishing since 2019 and had been a licensee of the company since 2005. The LEGO Books imprint will officially launch in autumn of 2021, led by Loh.

Since partnering with Ameet, LEGO Books has moved away from largely focusing on sticker and colouring books for children and has expanded to include more adult-focused products as well. With Loh’s leadership, this can be expected to continue.

“As a publisher, I’ve always strived to partner play with learning and I’m looking forward to breaking out of the standard ‘tie-in’ list and creating a dynamic, layered storytelling experience in all-new ways with non-traditional formats and technologies for Lego aficionados and readers of all ages,” Loh tells Publisher’s Weekly in an interview.
