New LEGO NINJAGO Core 2022 sets have launched

After an anniversary year for LEGO NINJAGO, the theme is returning to its roots with the Core line sets for 2022, with key aspects featured in sets.

When it comes to NINJAGO, the decade-long original theme has had a few regular vehicles and locations over the years, including mechs, temples, cars and dragons. All four of these are the inspiration for the latest wave of NINJAGO as an attempt to attract a new audience and allow designers to be creative without having to base builds off content from the TV show.

While a selection of shorts will be released featuring the new sets, all nine models intend to showcase the ideas and concepts that make up the theme, with an evolutionary play feature in almost all of them.

The second-largest build of the wave, 71765 Ninja Ultra Combo Mech, comes from the same LEGO designer behind the LEGO Ideas Voltron and features a combining function to turn the mech into four vehicles for the original ninjas and back again.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
