New LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian 2023 minifigure is the best of both worlds

There’s a brand new LEGO Star Wars Din Djarin minifigure on the way later this year, and it represents the best of both worlds for The Mandalorian.

Unveiled today, 75363 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter Microfighter (try saying that five times fast) includes a unique version of Din Djarin in the box. It uses the same torso and legs first seen in 2021’s 75299 Trouble on Tatooine, representing the bounty hunter’s beskar armour, but the helmet reuses the print from 75331 The Razor Crest.

That Ultimate Collector Series set introduced a new and more detailed helmet print for the Mandalorian in October 2022, there applied to a gunmetal grey piece to reflect his armour at the beginning of Season 1. In 75363 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter Microfighter, that same print has now been applied to a metallic silver piece, recreating Djarin’s chrome helmet.

It’s a welcome pro-consumer choice for the LEGO Star Wars theme that really represents the best of both worlds: collectors who prize exclusive minifigures in expensive sets still get a unique Mando minifigure with their UCS Razor Crest, but the character’s best helmet print is no longer locked behind an incredibly high paywall.

In fact, 75363 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter Microfighter will retail for just £12.99 / $15.99 / €15.99 when it launches on August 1. That’s a bump in price for Microfighters in general, but hopefully not a permanent one, given the Naboo ship includes two minifigures (you’ll also find Grogu in the 88-piece set).

And it means what’s technically the most detailed Din Djarin minifigure yet – complete with printed arms, printed legs and a jetpack – is accessible to the masses. Let’s just hope he also includes the same face print from 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter and 75331 The Razor Crest, rather than reverting to the standard black head. We wouldn’t put it past the LEGO Group…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
