Ring in summer with the LEGO Great Ball Contraption

Builders from around the world continue to add their modules to the ever-expanding catalogue of the LEGO Great Ball Contraption, with one of the most complex yet revealed.

Akiyuki Brick Channel who you may remember from the 68-meter indoor LEGO roller coaster has returned to showcase their latest creation, and an addition to the Great Ball Contraption.

For those unaware, the idea of the machine is to transport balls from one position to the next in whatever fashion you so choose via a brick-built module. When brought to a larger convention, these modules can be combined into a Great Ball Contraption. You can see the aptly named build in action below.

Five Tilted Rings features the titular Technic pieces placed at angles to allow the balls to fall naturally when risen in the appropriate position, transporting them higher and higher until they reach a spiral staircase that takes them to the next stage of the contraption.

The LEGO Group has shown a liking for the various mechanisms before, even going as far as to promote the largest version of the collaborative model in a video. Some builders have taken the idea and made it more festive, showcasing the boundless possibility of this popular LEGO machine.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
