New Star Wars: Episode I 25th anniversary trailer revealed

The Phantom Menace returns to the big screen next month and a new trailer has been released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode I.

There’s just one week to go until the LEGO Group kicks off its May the 4th 2024 celebrations, with a whole galaxy of new sets, promotions, GWPs, a crossover with Fortnite and much more all on the way. This year’s annual event looks likely to be the biggest to date though, as it marks the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars theme itself.

Sharing a quarter century birthday with LEGO Star Wars is The Phantom Menace, with Episode I also having arrived way back in 1999. To mark the occasion, Lucasfilm will be re-releasing the first prequel worldwide on May 3, with those in attendance getting a special bonus in the shape of an exclusive look at the upcoming Disney+ show, Star Wars: The Acolyte.

As well as creating all-new poster art for the film, Lucasfilm has revealed a new trailer for The Phantom Menace, one that combines behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the movie with a selection of fast-paced clips from Episode I and fans at Star Wars Celebration. The re-release trailer was dropped by the official Star Wars Twitter account, ahead of the prequel’s 25th anniversary next week.

From May 4, also known as Star Wars Day, cinema-goers will also be able to view the full nine-film Skywalker Saga, from The Phantom Menace through to The Rise of Skywalker in chronological order. This will likely be the first time that a lot of fans have seen some of the movies on the big screen, giving them the chance to experience the three trilogies like never before.

Episode I will also be celebrated by the LEGO Group with such upcoming sets 75380 Mos Espa Podrace Diorama, 75381 Droideka, 75383 Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator, 40676 The Phantom Menace and more.
