Western River Steamboat LEGO Ideas project sails to 10,000 votes

A model of a Western River Steamboat has made it to 10,000 supporters on

, and the project will now move into the review stage.

The project, created by

user CTDpower, includes both the model of the steamboat and a display stand. Inspired by the concept of steampunk, the creator noted that: “I grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River and love seeing old paddle wheels still cruising up and down the water.”

Standing at 17in tall, and 7.5in wide, the steamboat is roughly 30in long and can be separated into four smaller sections, making it a great project for either play or display value. Onboard the ship we see that there are cabins that would be perfect for a few minifigures, as well as a boiler deck, an engineer’s deck, and a pilot house on the top section.

As well as having plenty of compartments and sections to play around with, the project also stays accurate to the real-life models of steam boats, complete with paddle wheels and a gangway. The

project is also tagged with the phrase ‘Steamboat Willie’, harkening back to the famous cartoon.

Having reached 10,000 supporters on

, this Western River Steamboat will now go into the review stage, and the Group will at some point reach a decision on whether to make the project come to life as an official set. If this was to happen, the creator has suggested that more stickers and a crew of minifigures could be a good idea to make the model even more realistic.
