#ThrowbackThursday Eiffel Tower from 2007

I’ve taken this weeks #throwbackthursday selection. As you may have noticed I have grown fond of all this Architecture of late and I have actually been considering taking on one of the advanced models as my next Bricklink project. Currently you can get Tower Bridge and the Opera House neither are cheap to buy but from that series we have also had Taj Mahal and the first one 10181 Eiffel Tower, unless you want to class Statue of Liberty as one?

Today’s pick is from my view point the first in the iconic buildings/structure theme. The set was released back in 2007. The set was priced at £146.99 back then and came with 3428 peices. The set was actually built to scale 1:300. Now I like that fact a lot. I do find it very blocky compared to more modern builds and would like to see LEGO revisit this based on modern elements and build ideas.

However I still would like to own this one to buy one second hand prices start from £400 and to get a MISB expect to spend at least £1,200 ! The question is could I get this set built using new elements for less then £400?

Here is the official set description: “Created by popular demand, the LEGO Eiffel Tower is a stunning model for construction and display, built to 1:300 scale from the real tower’s original blueprints. From the flag at the top to the elevators and other realistic details, this is as authentic as it gets. Eiffel Tower stands 42.5″ (108 cm) high and base measures 20″ x 20″ (50 cm x 50 cm)! Can be disassembled in 3 sections for easy transport and storage!”
