LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower follows the landmark’s design principles

The massive LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower isn’t just huge, it’s accurate as the build follows the original landmark’s design down to its principles.

In the lengthy designer video for 10307 Eiffel Tower, LEGO designer Rok Žgalin Kobe has detailed the design process behind the tallest model ever made, including just how close in design the set is to the real Eiffel Tower.

“There is a ton of interesting building techniques in the Eiffel tower,” explains Rok. “Since it’s not a straight building but everything is at an angle, I hope that people can be surprised at the different ways we have managed to place the legs, the arms and the latticework.”

As you can read in our in-depth review of 10307 Eiffel Tower, it’s an impressive attempt at recreating the structure and offers a one-of-a-kind LEGO experience.

“I’ve tried following the principles of the original tower, so where the arms connect, we did it with LEGO clips, which then transfer all the forces from the very top down into the base.”

Rok’s explanation is an example of the thought that goes into the design process for a 10,001-piece model. You can add 10307 Eiffel Tower to your collection starting on November 25, Black Friday, with the exclusive 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment and more GWPs when purchased over the weekend.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
