Lord & Miller take Executive Producer credit on Solo: A Star Wars Story
Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of The LEGO Movie, have taken an Executive Producer credit on Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Solo: A Star Wars Story has had a troubled production, even by the standards of modern studio tent pole films. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors who succeeded in confounding expectations with The LEGO Movie, had almost finished directing the latest stand alone space epic when Lucasfilm fired the pair. Ron Howard was swiftly installed to finish the movie and re-shoot huge amounts of footage, at great expense.
Now, Lord and Miller have confirmed that they will take an Executive Producer credit on the film.
“We were really proud of the many contributions we made to that film,” Miller told the GLAS Animation Festival Friday audience, Variety reports. “In light of the creative differences, we elected to take an executive producer credit.”
Since departing Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lord and Miller have been busy with other projects, including re-writing The LEGO Movie Sequel.
Solo: A Star Wars Story will be released on May 25. The LEGO Star Wars sets based on the film will launch on April 20. The current range of LEGO Star Wars sets are available at [geot exclude_country=”United States”]shop.LEGO.com[/geot][geot country=”United States”]shop.LEGO.com[/geot].
