US flag made of 2,800 bricks celebrates Independence Day
In time for July 4, the LEGO Group invited the public to help build a 2,800 piece American flag.
In Washington DC, in the USA, the LEGO Group kicked off the July 4 celebrations with some serious building. Using red, white and blue plates, visitors to the National Mall could help construct the patriotic symbol following direction from brick experts, Cnet reports. The finished build measures 16 x 31 feet, taking pride of place in one of the best known spots in the country.
On the official YouTube channel, the LEGO Group has shared a time lapse of the community build:
The stop in the capital is part of the LEGO Americana Roadshow, that showcases impressive builds of American landmarks including the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial.
The stunt is becoming an annual tradition, as last year the LEGO Group celebrated July 4 with a giant model of the Statue of the Liberty.
