Life-size LEGO Noddy Holder arrives at Birmingham New Street station
The latest life-size LEGO statue to pop up in the UK is Slade frontman Noddy Holder, located at Birmingham New Street station.
Each Christmas, the festive hit Merry Xmas Everybody gets plenty of airtime, meaning that Noddy Holder remains in the public consciousness. To celebrate the Slade singer, a life-size LEGO model of the singer has turned up at Birmingham New Street train station, Counteract reports.
Retail BID Birmingham, an organisation responsible for promoting and supporting businesses in Birmingham city centre, commissioned the statue. It took 260 hours to build, with 43,000 bricks used in the construction process. The model will be used to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s Moments of Magic Christmas campaign.
“I’m really chuffed! It’s a great honour to have the statue made and I know a lot of hours have gone into it,” said the man himself, Noddy Holder. “The fact that it is helping to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity at Christmas time makes it feel extra special.”
A collection box is situated alongside the statue, so that those checking out the blocky Holder can make a donation to the charity.
