LEGO 2K Drive debuts behind Zelda, FIFA and Star Wars in UK sales charts
LEGO 2K Drive debuted among the top 10 physical games sold in the UK last week, but couldn’t surpass strong numbers from Zelda, Star Wars and FIFA.
The latest LEGO video game is also the first LEGO video game from developers 2K Games, zooming away from the TT Games formula towards a blocky racer filled with multiple terrains, vehicle types and plenty of customisation. The PS5 version currently has a respectable 74% average on Metacritic, though audience reviews paint a slightly worse picture at 57%.
That hasn’t stopped LEGO 2K Drive from making a solid debut in the UK physical sales charts (for the week ending May 20), however, where it’s taken seventh place. That puts it behind new and older titles including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, FIFA 23, Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and recent release Dead Island 2.
Nothing was ever really going to pull Tears of the Kingdom from pole position – the mammoth and long-awaited Nintendo Switch release, which sits at 96% on Metacritic, will be the talk of the town for a while – but 2K Games should still be pretty pleased with that debut, given the huge licences and pedigree of the games sitting in front of it.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
