Batmobile LEGO sets showcase evolution of DC superhero vehicle

Batman’s superhero vehicle of choice has changed much since the days of the classic show, and LEGO Batmobile models help showcase its evolution.

LEGO YouTuber Ashnflash has managed to collect an assortment of minifigure-scale batmobiles representing the different cinematic (and TV) versions of the character. While the personality and design of each depiction of the Dark Knight change between films and series, the focus of the video is to compare the LEGO versions of each Batmobile to see how they differ.

From the classic Batman TV show batmobile from 76188 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile to the most recently-released 76181 Batmobile: The Penguin Chase based on the new The Batman movie, seven of the superhero vehicles are included, though the YouTuber showcases two different versions of the classic TV series car.

Seeing them all next to each other helps to demonstrate how the designs have gone from semi-realistic to outlandish and back to realistic again, with The Batman’s Batmobile resembling a modified muscle car in appearance.

Despite the name of the video, the YouTuber recognises that this is not every LEGO Batman Batmobile as those from The LEGO Batman Movie and other sources were cut in the interest of time. Many of the models featured in the video are not retired and can be purchased from the official online store, including 76181 Batmobile: The Penguin Chase and 76239 Batmobile Tumbler: Scarecrow Showdown.

The Batman is available to watch in cinemas now and a full range of Batman sets based on the film have been released. This has inspired some to remake the movie’s trailer using LEGO bricks and digital effects.
