The biggest LEGO castle sets ever made – June 2023 

The LEGO Group loves castle creations, judging by the massive models currently out, of which 43222 Disney Castle will soon be the latest addition. 

Minifigures and mini-dolls are well-suited to brick-built castles and there are dozens of LEGO castles available. However, not every set is equal as the LEGO Group has been especially eager to make massive castles in recent years 

Whether they be based on a popular intellectual property, or a nostalgic LEGO theme given new life, here’s an updated list of the biggest LEGO castle sets, by piece count ascending. 

6 – 43197 The Ice Castle 

Pieces: 1,709 Price: £189.99 / $219.99 / €219.99 Year: 2021 

Based on the box office hit, Frozen, 43197 The Ice Castle is the only mini-doll entry on this list and one of the biggest mini-doll-centric creations too. Its unique crystalline-like ice structure sets it apart from any other huge LEGO castle 

5 – 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds 

Pieces: 2,660 Price: £149.99 / $169.99 / €169.99 Year: 2023 

The first of two Hogwarts recreations on this list is the smaller option in terms of piece count, price and even scale. 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds offers more of the school than 71043 Hogwarts Castle but is less than half the size by piece count. 

4 – 71040 The Disney Castle 

Pieces: 4,080 Price: £309.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 Year: 2016 

71040 The Disney Castle has now been retired and will soon be replaced by 43222 Disney Castle. The original Magic Kingdom model comes in at just over 4,000 bricks and nearly 800 less than the 2023 creation.  

3 – 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle 

Pieces: 4,514 Price: £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 Year: 2022 

Released during the LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary, 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle is by far the biggest classic Castle model so far, based on the nostalgic theme. With a full interior and interchangeable display, 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle is an impressive build, as you can read in our review. 

2 – 43222 Disney Castle 

Pieces: 4,837 Price: £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 Year: 2023 

43222 Disney Castle loses the ‘the’ from the name but appears to upgrade the original set in every way, updating the colour scheme, increasing the size and including more minifigures.  

1 – 71043 Hogwarts Castle 

Pieces: 6,020 Price: £409.99 / $469.99 / €469.99 Year: 2018 

With over 6,000 pieces, 71043 Hogwarts Castle is the biggest LEGO castle of all time still, in terms of piece count. This microscale model may be in a similar situation to 31203 World Map, where its huge piece count doesn’t necessarily make it the largest model by volume.
