Comparing four years of huge LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster sets

The new LEGO Marvel 76210 Hulkbuster isn’t the first massive model of the armour, and there’s been a few developments in the past four years.

In 2018, the LEGO Group released 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition, a large brick-built Hulkbuster based on the suit as seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It included 1,363 pieces, which has been recently overshadowed by the huge 76210 Hulkbuster with 4,049 bricks and is new for 2022.

76210 Hulkbuster will be available to purchase from November 4 for VIP members (and November 9 for everyone else) for £474.99 / $549.99 / €549.99.

Despite the size differences between these two builds, there are a few similarities and a good number of differences between them:

5 – Glow in the dark bricks

It appears that 76210 Hulkbuster features glow-in-the-dark elements on the knees, one of the same spots that 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition features the glowing pieces. However, the 2018 set also includes a pair of glowing elements on the hands, though in the 2022 model they’ve been upgraded to light bricks.

4 – The plaque and display stand

While both LEGO Marvel Hulkbusters include an informative plaque featuring fictional details of the armour, 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition also includes a full stand to pose the armour on. No such stand is featured in 76210 Hulkbuster, though it’s much bigger than the 2018 model so that stand would have had to be scaled up accordingly.

3 – Additional accessories

76210 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition included accessories including two robotic arms, an additional hand, a fire extinguisher as well as a miniature vehicle and Veronica builds. No accessories are featured in 76210 Hulkbuster with most of the piece count dedicated to the armour recreation.

2 – The minifigures

While the minifigure in 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron edition was exclusive, it is similar to another Mark 43 minifigure featured in three other Age of Ultron sets. The minifigure in 76210 Hulkbuster is in a similar situation, having a few small differences to the Tony Stark minifigure found in a previous promotional build, making it potentially more desirable for those who don’t own 40334 Avengers Tower

1 – Light bricks

The 2018 huge LEGO Hulkbuster included one light brick but with the upscaled price point in the 2022 set comes an increased number of light bricks, now totalling three located in each hand and the chest.
