Could LEGO apply Avatar learnings to rumoured Jurassic Park sets?

As more rumours emerge about possible LEGO Jurassic Park sets, could techniques from another LEGO theme lend themselves well to dinosaur-filled scenes?

LEGO Avatar launched in 2022 to celebrate the return of James Cameron’s otherworldly films with Avatar: The Way of Water. The related LEGO Avatar sets are populated with impressively detailed creatures from the planet of Pandora, bringing new elements to the LEGO catalogue. They are easily the best part of the sets, as they are to the films as well.

Recently, rumours have been flying that LEGO Jurassic Park could be about to see a revival, according to reports from French online retailer Jouéclub, shared by Instagram-user exabrickslegogo. If this proves to be true, we’re hoping the level of detail and accuracy given to LEGO Avatar’s creatures will be applied to the dinosaurs.

Already, the rumoured set names suggest that there will be a heavy focus on beasts, as to be expected. A few of the prehistoric animals referenced include velociraptors, dilophosaurus, triceratops, brachiosaurus, and the infamous T-rex.

In the past, the brick-built dinosaurs from the theme have been made from coloured elements, without much in the way of printing or possibility, when compared to the more modern Avatar creatures. The latter comes complete with foil wings for extra detail and accuracy, as well as posable wings, heads, and other limbs, depending on the creature.

Of course, we can’t speculate too far without confirmation from the LEGO Group that LEGO Jurassic Park will actually be revived. However, if and when it is, we hope that the level of detail and accuracy is given to the dinosaurs as they deserve.
