Five things we’ve spotted in LEGO Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress

The upcoming LEGO Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress is packed with plenty of details and secrets – here are five things we’ve already spotted.

Fans of the classic LEGO Pirates theme had plenty to celebrate yesterday when it was announced that 10320 Eldorado Fortress would be released next month. The 2,509-piece model is a recreation of a previous set from 1989, 6276 Eldorado Fortress, with an upgraded build that boasts a galleon, a working crane, eight minifigures and a modular design.

At roughly five times the piece count of the original model, 10320 Eldorado Fortress also manages to pack plenty of detail into the LEGO Icons set, with all sorts of things for builders to spot as they’re constructing Governor’s Fort Sabre. With that in mind, here are five secrets we’ve already spotted:

5 – ‘X’ marks the spot

There’s a treasure map located in the admiral’s office, one that’s appeared in 23 LEGO sets to date, including 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay. The piece shows the location of buried booty and a similar map included in 40504 A Minifigure Tribute revealed where the LEGO House can be found.

4 – Now with more monkeys

As we all know, add monkeys to anything and you’ll instantly improve it 100%. That’s exactly what 10320 Eldorado Fortress does, with a single pesky primate who accompanies the pirate raiding party. A promotional video for the set on the LEGO Group’s social media platforms even includes the same monkey singing part of the theme song for the model…

3 – Stay away from that trap door

One of many nods to 6276 Eldorado Fortress in the new LEGO Icons model is a black trap door element. Opening it up leads to a similar treasure room where a chest filled with golden goodies is located. There’s also another chest hidden under some barrels in a different part of Fort Sabre and guarded by a fearsome green frog.

2 – Secret escape route

Getting in to Eldorado Fortress might be a challenge but escaping in one piece is an even tougher task. Fortunately, one of the modular tower sections holds the key to freedom. There’s secret trap door lurking in the floor, with a chute that minifigures can be dropped drop down into and make good their sea-based exit.

1 – Dead men tell no tales

Alas, not all pirates make it safely out of Fort Sabre in one piece. Located beneath the prison cell in 10320 Eldorado Fortress is the red bandana-wearing skeleton of one such unlucky soul. Could that be the original version of 6276 Eldorado Fortress’ pirate minifigure?

LEGO Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress will launch on July 4 for VIPs and receive a wider release on July 7 for everyone else. The 2,509-piece build will be priced at £189.99 / $214.99 / €214.99 and available from LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores.
