Going inside LEGO 80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech with the set designer
80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech is the stand out set from the LEGO Monkie Kid theme – and the only person to talk about it is Senor Model Designer Justin Ramsden.
The big talking point around LEGO Monkie Kid 80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech is that the model has the most drum lacquered gold pieces of any LEGO set ever released. The fact was included in the launch press release twice!
There is a lot more to the set than that though, as any LEGO fan will be able to tell simply by admiring images of the mode. To find out what went into the set, Brian Saviano interviewed LEGO Senior Model Designer Justin Ramsden about his design process.
Thrown right into the deep end, the design expert reveals how he was involved in developing early concepts for the Monkie Kid theme and specifically 80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech.
“From very very early on when I was briefed about the Monkey Kind Warrior Mech it was to make it as ornate as possible,” Justin confirms.
