LEGO Marvel 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar revealed
The LEGO building instructions server has debuted an exciting new advent calendar inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
LEGO advent calendars have been a staple of LEGO Christmas releases for several years. However, they’ve recently been branching out into more licensed territory. The first Marvel advent calendar (76196 The Avengers Advent Calendar) debuted in 2021, featuring characters such as Iron Man, Spider-Man and even Thanos.
This year’s Marvel calendar is going in a slightly different direction. 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar focuses on some of our favourite space-faring superheroes, with the likes of Star-Lord, Rocket and Drax all making an appearance. It is most likely inspired by The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, an upcoming TV special scheduled for release this December.
In keeping with other LEGO advent calendars, the set includes 24 miniature builds for fans to assemble during the festive period. Most of these take their cues from movies in the MCU: we can see both of the Guardians’ ships, Yondu’s mining craft and even Star-Lord’s tape deck.
However, there’s also some builds that are unique to this set. A substantial, hi-tech spaceship seems large enough to accommodate a minifigure, and may act as a sci-fi stand-in for Santa’s sleigh.
You’ll be able to pore over the set in detail when it arrives on store shelves. If history is anything to go by, expect the set (and its fellows) to be available for purchase from September 1. We’ll likely get more detailed images as the release approaches.
