LEGO eco-friendly bricks by 2030
An interesting piece of LEGO news popped up on my Facebook feed earlier about the LEGO company aiming to have eco-friendly bricks by 2030. This has been touched on a few times but it seems LEGO are taking a lead in the matter as The toy firm says their bricks will no longer be made from the oil-based plastic found in the current toys.
LEGO has revealed it will be investing millions into research and development to develop more eco-friendly bricks.By 2030, the toy firm says their bricks will no longer be made from the oil-based plastic found in the current toys.
According to Infoblizzard, Roar Trangbaek, press officer for the LEGO Group, said: “You could say that it’s a logical place for us to find a way of reducing our environmental footprint.
“If you look at our CO2 footprint as a company, the majority of our impact comes from offscreen activities – basically what happens before we receive any raw materials in our factory.”
To achieve its goal, LEGO is spending $150 million on its new Sustainable Materials Centre, where the company will develop partnerships with stakeholders and scientists.
