The LEGO Store Leicester Square hosted the launch of LEGO Ideas 21314 TRON: Legacy Lightcycle today, giving fans a chance to buy the set early and meet the fan designers
It takes more than constant rain to stop a LEGO collector from getting a new set early, as the steely fans queuing outside the LEGO Store Leicester Square demonstrated today. From 4.00pm, the fan designers behind LEGO Ideas 21314 TRON: Legacy Lightcycle were there to sign copies of the new set that was available two days early, especially for the event.
A packed ground floor saw fans patiently queue after they had come in from the unfavourable weather, past stacks of the set on sale for the first time. Once arriving at the front of the line, each customer could meet Drew and Tim – aka BrickBrosUK – and have a chat while getting their sets signed. The design duo meticulously signed dozens of boxes in the space of just half an hour, sat behind a table adorned with a brick built TRON identity disc.
“This is overwhelming, we’re very excited that we are seeing so many people turn up – despite the weather here in London, which is fairly wet,” LEGO Ideas Community Specialist Hasan Jensen said of the turnout.
Once sets were signed and it was time to leave, each attendee who had purchased LEGO Ideas 21314 TRON: Legacy Lightcycle was given a poster and printed tile. The tile is new, and proclaims ‘I love LEGO Store London’ – these are sure to be much desired collectibles, but the sense was given that these will be frequently given out at the destination LEGO Store.
LEGO Ideas 21314 TRON: Legacy Lightcycle will be released on March 31. The current LEGO Ideas sets are available to order from shop.LEGO.com.
