LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower is a What If…? scenario

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower doesn’t seem to be based on a single moment of the MCU – and it turns out that’s the point.

The designer video for 76269 Avengers Tower has now been released, featuring designers Justin Ramsden, Mark Stafford and Senior Graphic Designer Mark Tranter.

One of the more interesting revelations from their insight is how the team interpret 76269 Avengers Tower and its place in the theme.

76269 Avengers Tower features references to the original Avengers movie (when the tower had a much different design), Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hawkeye and several other Marvel Cinematic Universe stories that don’t necessarily make sense with the building. However, the reason behind this design choice has now been explained.

“This the LEGO What If…? version of Avengers Tower – what if it all happened at once on one building,” states Stafford in the designer video.

76218 Sanctum Sanctorum practises a similar concept, featuring minifigures and moments from Doctor Strange, Infinity War and Multiverse of Madness. 76269 Avengers Tower takes that concept further though with many more stories and characters from multiple versions of the same building.

While 76269 Avengers Tower isn’t a What If… set, the streaming series has had its fair share of sets and minifigures, most recently in 71039 Marvel Series 2 to tie into the upcoming second season of What If…?

76269 Avengers Tower is releasing on November 24, 2023, with the 5008076 Taxi gift-with-purchase available with it for a limited time. You can read our review of the massive Marvel model by clicking here or here for its GWP.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
